Getting Your Ex To Chase You - How It Is Done

Getting Your Ex To Chase You - How It Is Done

Getting your ex back isn't as easy as pestering them and making your presence known until they return to you. It simply doesn't work like that. If you chase the person that you love after a breakup then you are driving a bigger wedge between you and them. The bull in a china shop approach is not the right way to go. STOP, think about what you are doing, and break off the chase.

In the immediate aftermath of a breakup it is almost instinctive to make every attempt that you possibly can to contact your ex. You may call them, text them, e-mail them, send them Facebook messages, even appear on their doorstep, and all to no avail. You have to resist the urge, you have to remind yourself that every time you pester your ex the less your chances of getting back with them will be.

Breaking Contact To Make Contact

This may seem counterproductive but the only way to restore contact with your ex is to stop attempting to contact them, keep your distance and drop off their radar. When you are constantly in your ex's inbox, or constantly ringing, you are inadvertently reinforcing the breakup and strengthening their resolve to remain apart from you. Your ex doesn't want to talk to you right now, you will have to face up to that fact and accept it. That may be a hard pill to swallow, but it will glean results.

You have to give your ex the time needed to start missing you. There is no doubt that your ex still harbors feelings for you, but right now it is easier for your ex to suppress those feelings than face you and talk to you. At this stage of the game you have to retreat in order to strengthen your position. When you disappear from your ex's life you will set the stage for your return. You want to make your ex chase you.

Taking A Step Back

When you step back and retreat from your ex you will be doing five things that will improve your position -

1, You will be giving yourself the time needed to get your emotions in order and plan your next steps. Success depends on you being cool, calm, and collected.

2, You will be giving your ex the time and space that they will need to start missing you and re-remembering the things that he/she loves about you.

3, You will be reflecting on the mistakes that caused the breakup. Reflection is essential. If you want to make a success of the relationship in the future you will have to recognize what the events that led to the breakup were.

4, You will have the time and space needed to re-discover yourself as an individual. It is very important that you know who you are if you want to be part of a functioning relationship.

5, You will find out if what you feel is true love. As the old saying goes - absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Getting Your Ex To Chase You

Getting your ex to chase you is not as hard as you may initially think. By far the hardest thing to do is back off and accept the breakup. When you accept the breakup you will release the pressure that your ex was under, you will be unlocking the door to reconciliation.

After a period of no contact your ex's feelings for you will start to come back to the surface. Your ex will start to miss you, they will wonder what you are doing and how you are feeling. Eventually curiosity will get the better of them, your ex will pluck up the courage to contact you.

The stage is now set to get your ex to chase you. You will now be in a position to go to the next level and get your relationship back. The initial contact stage has to be played very carefully. You will have to keep it cool and casual to begin with in order not to spook your ex.

What Steps Should I Take?

Being dumped is one of the worst experiences that a person will go through in their life. The feeling of emptiness that accompanies an unwanted breakup can be difficult to deal with and at times overwhelming. You are at a vulnerable stage in the immediate aftermath of a breakup. This is the time when most people let do their heart do all the thinking. In order to get your relationship back on track you have to know how to avoid the breakup mistakes that a lot of people in your position make.

It is also imperative that you learn about the no contact rule and exactly how to put it into operation. The no contact rule will be the most formidable card in your deck. Used correctly it will help produce the result that you desire - reconnection with your ex, and the recommencement of your relationship.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- People are more likely to trust health messages tweeted by doctors who have a lot of followers, but not the messages they retweet, according to researchers.

A study of the credibility of health messages on Twitter showed that credibility dips when doctors who have a large number of Twitter followers passed on messages, instead of composing their own tweets, said Ji Young Lee, a former master's degree student in media studies, Penn State. When non-medical professionals with a lot of Twitter followers forward messages about health on Twitter, however, their followers tend to find those messages more credible.

"Our study results imply that people may perceive tweets and retweets differently depending on the source of the content," said Lee, who is now a doctoral student in communication at Ohio State. "They do care about whether a message is originally created by someone or retweeted by someone, as well as whether the source is a professional and popular."

A tweet is a message that is 140 characters or less that a user posts on Twitter, the popular microblogging site. When a Twitter user forwards a post from another person, it is called a retweet.

The study, which appears online ahead of its publication in the journal Health Communication, shows how people infer credibility and trust based on certain cues, said S. Shyam Sundar, Distinguished Professor of Communications and co-director of the Media Effects Research Laboratory, who worked with Lee on the study.

"It does show that people are aware of all of these cues," said Sundar. "And they are likely to use all three cues -- bandwagon, authority and proximity -- when they're reviewing online health communications."

The authority cue indicates the source's reputation for expertise and bandwagon is a cue that suggests how popular the source is. Proximity refers to whether the content is original -- a tweet -- or forwarded information -- a retweet.

A total of 63 undergraduate college students took part in the study and were asked to follow the Twitter accounts of either a doctor with many followers, the same doctor with a few followers, a layperson with many followers, or a layperson with a few followers.

The researchers added information to the Twitter accounts of these four fictitious sources to suggest the cues. For instance, they added "MD" on account names to indicate that the sources were doctors. To signal that the source was popular, the researchers increased the number of followers on those accounts from 21 to 983.

Subjects found original tweets from the doctor with a large Twitter following to be the most credible. However, the perceived credibility decreased when that doctor retweeted a message from another doctor, according to the researchers.

The credibility increased when the popular layperson retweeted the same message from a doctor.

"In the social media universe, the number of followers that a layperson has seems to translate into trustworthiness," said Sundar. "While tweets are judged based on the expertise of the person tweeting them, retweets depend on the trustworthiness of the person forwarding the health messages." Sundar said subjects received Twitter messages that were controversial statements about weight loss that were tweeted to them over a one-week period. For example, one tweet read, "Exercising less than one hour per day can help one lose weight. Exercising more than one hour increases appetite and results in weight gain."

The researchers used controversial statements to make sure subjects would challenge the credibility of the message.

"We selected controversial messages because one of the major outcome variables in our study was perceived credibility of the content," said Sundar. "The question of judging credibility of a particular message will be moot if the message is a well known truism." The research could help health communications professionals and doctors how best to spread the word about health and medicine, as well as help raise awareness on how web users process online information, said Sundar.

"With many laypeople posting health information, there is a greater need for online users to assess the credibility of what they read," said Sundar. "And, as more and more people go online for health information, we want to learn how they use the unique cues present in online media, so that we can find the best ways to communicate health information."

Braves clinch playoff berth; Tigers tie White Sox

Here's how the pennant races look with eight days to go:

? REDEMPTION: Chipper Jones and the Braves are back in the playoffs after missing out last season following a massive September collapse. Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning that lifted Atlanta over Miami 4-3 on Tuesday night, clinching at least an NL wild-card berth for the Braves. The 40-year-old Jones, who plans to retire after the season, started the winning rally with a double.

? ALL SQUARE: After chasing the White Sox for more than three weeks, Detroit finally forged a tie atop the AL Central when Anibal Sanchez threw a three-hitter in a 2-0 win over Kansas City. Hours earlier, Chicago lost 4-3 to Cleveland for its sixth defeat in seven games. The Tigers have made up three games in a week on the White Sox, who had been alone in first place since Sept. 3.

? NEXT UP: Texas and Oakland resume their pivotal series Wednesday night after splitting a pair of one-run decisions. The A's trail the first-place Rangers by four games in the AL West but hold a two-game lead over the Angels for the league's second wild card. Los Angeles faces Mariners ace Felix Hernandez in a late game.

? ON THE MEND: Cincinnati will be without manager Dusty Baker for the rest of the week. Baker met with Reds players and revealed he suffered a mini-stroke in addition to being treated for an irregular heartbeat last week. The 63-year-old skipper hopes to return to the dugout next week as the NL Central champions try to earn home-field advantage throughout the postseason.

? CLOSING IN: With seven games to play, St. Louis has a 4?-game cushion over the Brewers and Dodgers in the race for the second NL wild card. Jaime Garcia pitched the defending champion Cardinals to a 4-0 victory at Houston. Milwaukee and Los Angeles both lost.

? CHASE CHATTER: "There was never any doubt. We knew that last year was somewhat of a fluke." ? Atlanta slugger Chipper Jones after the Braves, who blew a huge wild-card lead last September, punched their postseason ticket.

?Mama + Biz Owner? ? You don't have to compromise motherhood for

Women encouraging women, mamas encourage mamas. That?s my inspiration for this new ?mama + biz owner? series. Today is part V and although it?s a bit longer than the others, it?s chalk full of great inspiration for you to soak up. Two sisters who both have 5 children share how they manage life, business + getting it all done. Meet this women of Vintage Rose Wraps?

Let me first preface this by saying that it is only through a blessing from beyond how 2 sisters, nearly 5 years apart both ended up with 5 children each?all the same ages! :) We are Katie + Ginny, owners of Vintage Rose Wraps, and our children are?

Katie {Wilson} Hughes // Ruby 12 | Betsy 9 | Cannon 6 | Millie 3 | Clayton 10 months

Ginny {Wilson} Winters // Annie 12 | Andrew 9 | Will 6 | James 3 | Emily 8 months

As children and while growing up, we had a family cottage industry and learned to love the idea of using personal resources from home to create something that could be loved by others.

We?ve always done something together, whether it was creating items to be sold at a local holiday home show, or helping put on women?s retreats to bless the lives of others.? But with the birth of each child, and an eventual move out of state for one of us, we honestly put things on the backseat so we could focus our energies in raising our children.

But you never know when you might just happen upon a little business.? My sister had given me some headbands in 2008 ? I liked the concept and so did my friends.? So I set out to make some of my own.? I made a few and gave them as gifts, and it wasn?t too long before others wanted me to make them for themselves.? I sold them for holiday shows and people in my area and things just sort of naturally escalated from there.? I felt an inner tug, called my sister, and eventually created VINTAGE ROSE WRAPS.

We?ve now taken our headbands to the wholesale Market Shows in NYC, Atlanta and Dallas and currently sell to over 700 stores across the country ? with wholesale being about 95% of our business and the other 5% through Facebook and word of mouth.

You can find our shop here, our Facebook page here, and our blog here.

?

BEFORE children, here?s what a typical day looked like:

After getting married, both of us graduated with degrees in Family and Consumer Studies, so a lot of our time was spent completing those and also working outside the home.? Ginny was over sales in a large touristy consignment shop, and I helped with creative projects at a non-profit organization that assisted abused children.? For fun, we?d eat out a lot, go on weekend getaways with our hubbies, and travel!? Oh that was the life!? We weren?t sure what the day would hold as there was always an adventure to be had.

?

And now AFTER children:

We both eventually stopped working when children came along, so this left opportunities to try some new things together. So aside from the day to day responsibilities of taking care of children, we?d get together a lot, create things, and really just try and go with life as usual.? We?d steal hours from the day during naptime and late at night to accomplish things we?d wanted to. ?I don?t think it was until the third babies came that life really changed.? Now with five each, we really work to accomplish things with the help of our very supportive husbands, friends, and family.? We still try to make homemade meals at least 5 nights a week, take time to travel with hubbies when possible, and steal a few hours of the night after the kids go to bed to catch up on work things.

I think the biggest prompting was that our internal voice told us we?d always do something.? We tried lots of things before we landed on this?and I think truthfully, we didn?t anticipate that this thing was ?the one? ? but now as we look back on how things have progressed, we realize that everything we?d done before was just helping us grow our talents and abilities to be able to be successful at this business.? Our past experiences, our interactions with people, even where we grew up and where I moved all shaped how this business was able to grow the way it has.

Because we came into this business after most of our children were born, it wasn?t until our last babies came that we needed to hire a little help.? We have a shipping office with 1 full time and 1 part time employee and a couple of fill-in employees when needed, and we have anywhere from about 4-8 sew-ers who sew for us weekly.? Other than that, we do our best to manage home life on our own.? Occasionally we have a cleaning lady who comes into help us here and there when we need a little extra boost ? but for the most part we work to manage everything else on our own.

I don?t think having children changed our outlook on our business ? rather it was the business that changed our outlook on home life.? I think because we have to work harder to have quality-time with our children, we really value day-to-day interactions with them and try to find joy in our every day routines.? We work to build memories with our kids more often and are more conscious that we?re not letting anything fall through the cracks.? With that said, that doesn?t mean we don?t ever let anything fall through the cracks ? but I think we strive harder to be good Moms because we have to ? and if we aren?t doing our best, we feel it more because there?s always something to blame it on! ;)

Because of this, we have felt the need to share our experience as mothers and business owners with others ? which has led to our new, very exciting endeavor ? our blog ? The Vintage Mother ? going live shortly! {late September 2012}? We realize there is so much we can do to extend ourselves to Moms and business owners alike and share our experiences to bless the lives of others.? We hope you?ll take the opportunity to get to really know us.

In our opinion, that of ?being a Mother? will be the most important work you ever do.? If you have the opportunity to be a Mom, how wonderful and what an amazing gift!? With that said, take opportunities to listen to your internal tuggings and follow your heart.? If you have a desire to have a business while being a mother, the right timing for things will fall into place.? You don?t have to compromise motherhood for business.? It can be done with a good support system and you can still be a fantastic mother.

On a business note, here?s our advice ? simply put:? Do what you do well.? It doesn?t require any alarming amount of creativity or style or perfection.? Create something you love ? something you?re proud of.? Market it as best as you know how.? Follow your instinct, be smart, and go with it.

Going for the record: Can anything stop 2012 from being warmest ever?

For super-warm 2012 to end up as an average year in the lower 48 states would require an astonishing, and record-breaking, cold snap over the final 4 months. That's not in the forecast.

As the US heads into the final three months of the year, 2012 is likely to end up as the warmest year on record for the lower 48 states, according to an analysis from the federal government's National Climatic Data Center.

That would mark the fourth time in the last 14 years that annual average temperatures for the continental US either set records or flirted with them ? a cluster unmatched since the 1930s.

Since January, year-to-date temperatures for the continental US have consistently run well above the 20th-century average with each passing month ? reaching a maximum of 6 degrees Fahrenheit above average for the period ending March 31, then declining steadily to 4 degrees F above the 20th-century average for the period ending August 31.

Still, that 4 degrees is at least a full degree higher than January-to-August averages in any of the five warmest years on record.

"That's quite a jump," says Jake Crouch, a climate researcher at the center, located in Asheville, N.C.

The year's unusual warmth for the US results from a one-two punch, many researchers say. Normal swings in large-scale climate features, such as El Nino and La Nina, are superimposed over a longer-term world-wide warming trend triggered by the build-up of atmospheric greenhouse gases that come from burning fossil fuels, as well as from land-use changes,?researchers say.

Even if year-to-date temperatures were to fall back to the 20th-century average by the end of the year, 2012 would still be a record buster, Mr. Crouch says.

To pull off that feat of cooling, he explains, September through December would have to rank among the 20 coldest final four months on record ? highly unlikely given the historical record as well as seasonal forecasts for the final four months of 2012.

Most of the continental US ? from the Southwest up into the Rockies and eastward into Maine ? is forecast to see warmer-than-normal temperatures throughout this final period, notes Huug van den Dool, with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center in College Park, Md.

The eastern third of the US is expected to see the drought easing ? particularly between the Mississippi River and the Appalachian Mountains and in the Southeast.

One key reason is the apparent shift in conditions from two consecutive years of La Nina to a weak El Nino this coming winter. La Nina and El Nino represent opposite states in sea-surface temperatures and wind patterns along the equatorial Pacific. Both can affect atmospheric circulation patterns well beyond the tropics.

For the US, La Nina tends to push average storm tracks across the continent father north than usual, while El Nino tends to drive them farther south. The onset of El Nino is expected to bring welcome rainfall to the Southeast and Mid Atlantic states. But the more southerly path for storms could lead to a dearth of precipitation farther north in sections of the country already hard hit by drought.

As a result, forecasters are calling for drought to continue through the end of the year for much of the western two-thirds of the US, with drought conditions likely to extend into the Pacific Northwest.

Globally, June through August posted the third warmest temperatures on record for that three-month period. January through August was the ninth warmest first eight months on record.

Of keen interest has been the dramatic decline in summer sea ice in the Arctic Ocean, which this melt season hit a record low of 1.3 million square miles ? 18 percent below the previous record set in 2007 and 51 percent below levels in 1979, when consistent satellite measurements of sea ice began.

Less ice means more open ocean to absorb sunlight during the summer, energy released as heat in the fall and winter. The decline not only affects local Arctic weather patterns in the fall ? found in forecasts of warmer than normal temperatures along northern Alaska ? but researchers are beginning to uncover ways in which the heat being released deeper into an Arctic fall and winter can affect atmospheric?circulation patterns at lower latitudes.

Indeed, the decline in summer ice has occurred far faster than models of global warming's effect on the top of the world predicted. For seasonal-forecasting purposes, this is prompting forecasters to rely even more heavily on their computer-based forecasts than they might otherwise, suggests Dr. van den Dool.

"The reliance on models will probably increase, because what is happening right now in the Arctic appears to be so fast that we hardly have any time to take data points and declare that we now know what is going on in the present climate," he says.

Intuition and sound judgment will remain key features of forecasts, he adds, "but it's a challenging situation."

Intel reveals Quad-Core, LTE-capable Medfield chips are on the way

Intel concedes its Medfield chips dont support LTE yet

Intel's curious decision to shun the US and release Medfield-powered smartphones in India, China, Russia and the UK might be because of those countries' underdeveloped levels of LTE. Marketing chief Sumeet Syal told TechCrunch that its current-generation x86 system-on-chip won't support the standard, but a capable version will arrive at the end of the year -- with production ramping up in 2013. He also let slip to the site that dual-core versions will arrive shortly, claiming they'll benefit from Intel's hyper threading know-how. Syal said that Santa Clara is "comfortable" with its progress just months after entering the smartphone space but declined to discuss numbers -- for which we'll have to wait for the Q3 earnings call in October to find out how well (or not) Intel's mobile ambitions are going.

The Best Travel Insurance Money Can Buy ? A Passport - Marshall ...

You heard it here first. I read Chris Elliott?s online columns almost everyday. Sometimes I come away a little miffed?.like when he bad-mouths frequent flier programs, and other times I learn something I didn?t know. And still in other instances (like yesterday?s column), I see a stark reminder of what I think should be obvious, but apparently isn?t. What the heck am I talking about? NOW HEAR THIS ? IF YOU ARE TRAVELING OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA YOU NEED A PASSPORT.

I realize this isn?t news to most Boardingarea.com readers as the primary clientele are interested in airplane travel. What you may not know is that as a US citizen traveling on a ?closed loop? cruise that begins and ends at the same US port, you are allowed to travel with a nothing more than a birth certificate and a picture ID.?The cruise industry fought hard to carve out this exception for closed loop cruises. I can only assume that they thought a requirement for passports would cost them business. Perhaps it would.?However, just because you can do something does not mean that you should. The definition of what is valid and what is not in regards to immigration documents other than passports is subject to a little too much interpretation if you ask me.

Planning a cruise? Thinking about attempting to travel with your birth certificate and a picture ID? Please don?t do it. Get a passport. It?s the cheapest travel insurance money can buy.

Web Based Accounting And Online Banking Go Together Perfectly ...

?

There?s a small, poorly kept secret that has helped countless small businesses enjoy increased benefits from online bookkeeping and web-based accounting and it?s not going to surprise you at all: online banking. New small businesses are much more likely to utilize the online banking features and tools their banks offer them, but people who have been doing their personal and business banking one paper for years often find making the jump to digital to be far more trouble than it?s worth. If you own a small business, you owe it to yourself and your business to disabuse yourself of this notion. Online banking is pure value.

A number of common misconceptions need to be answered. It?s not less secure, it?s more secure. Even the FDIC says that with basic password effectiveness and protection and decent computer security and virus-protection software you?ll be able to minimize threats and control your risk exposure. These steps are enough to get you nearly as secure as Fortune 500 companies. At that point, information thieves have bigger and more vulnerable targets. And accounting to Consumer Reports, the paper trail of your transactions is often less secure than encrypted information. Those shredded printouts are awfully easy to reassemble and use for fraudulent activities.

Second, it doesn?t take more time, it saves you time. Some people worry that the act of setting up online banking and learning the system will require time they just don?t have. It?s true that you will have to invest a bit of time into getting on top of that learning curve. But it?s the same as any investment. Patience will yield dividends in the form of a lot more free time. Fewer trips to the bank, quicker access to all your bank statements with up-to-the-minute information, immediate transfers, and automated bill paying all reduce your bookkeeping load. A trip to the bank takes about 30 minutes. When you complete the same transactions faster and more easily from your workplace computer in 10, it?s hard to see what time loss people could be worried about.

So beyond saving time and increased security, what else makes the initial conversion headache worth it? One of the biggest ways small business owners waste time and increase errors is with manual bookkeeping. Web-based accounting tools allow you to automate part of the process, and with online banking, you can securely link and synchronize your accounting tool with your bank accounts to facilitate this automation, saving time and reducing errors. This even compiles your accounting data so it?s easier to transmit to your accountant for tax purposes, which makes everyone happy. Lastly, constant access to account information, and the automation of bookkeeping mentioned above ? which gives you constant access to updated financial tools as a result ? makes it easier for you to find the information you need to make business decisions effectively.

Web-based accounting is incredibly powerful, and online banking is one of the secrets to unlocking that power and helping your business become more efficient. But you can?t do that until you get comfortable with the idea of moving from paper to digital banking. Try it, and you?ll be happy with the results.

Unlock the power of efficiency with online banking and web-based accounting.

Sleep Tight, Sweet Romain. You?ve Earned It.

romain-1-2Poor Romain. Being TechCrunch's only remaining intern, we had him brave the New York City night and blog from the iPhone 5 line. He did it like a champ. And now he's sleeping. In his Aol cubicle. He's a grown man — a 22-year old Frenchman who's braved multiple big cities on his very own — but I couldn't help but worry about him the whole time. But lo and behold, here he is, sleeping like a baby. And we're glad to see it.

The Spirit (and Food and Drink) of Door County | ChicagoCulinarian

If the world ended and nature took back its domain, I imagine it would look a lot like Door County. No, not the Settlement Shops of Fish Creek and the throngs of elder aged tourists and coach busses, but the part of the peninsula in Sturgeon Bay, Lake Michigan side. More specifically, the birch trees, pine and Midwestern brush of Whitefish Dunes State Park rising high into the hills, overlooking the white, sandy beaches that squeak under your feet of Whitefish Bay.

Harvey, our yellow lab Cubby and I went to this special place last weekend, literally scooping up the last old world log cabin for rent on this quiet DC beach, where property value is now worth in the millions. Luckily, the residents of Cave Point Drive, just up from Glidden Lodge where I vacationed with my family as a child (earlier, it was Bay Shore Inn, Sturgeon Bay Side), have worked extremely hard to keep this part of the peninsula as ?untouched? as possible. Sure, the houses are huge these days, but they?re tucked quietly in between thick throngs of trees and woods where white tailed deer prance about and the seagulls make friends with the geese.

Visitors (those from Illinois charmingly known by Wisconsin locals and Packers fanatics as FIPs ? I won?t go into the specifics) tend to flock to the Bay side ?because there?s more to do and it?s closer to the shopping and antiques.? I prefer this part of the Lake side, surrounded as you travel inward by farms, Dairy cows and horses hanging out in the Prairie grasses.

If you stare directly out into the lake, just as the sun has come up and begun to shed its crystal glass speckles over calm blue waves, if you blur your eyes a little it gets harder and harder to tell where the line of the sky meets the earth. It almost feels like you?re staring into heaven, or at the very least, some other plane, or universe. You feel small.

The proximity of Lake Michigan has created a sense of ?terroir? about the space. The produce that grows here tastes sweet, thanks to the cool water winds that blow through at night to chill the carrots, beets and spinach, grapes and apples, helping them get their sugars going.? Though fishing in Lake Michigan is limited, old school fishermen still wearing big rubber boots and overalls snatch up what whitefish, perch, trout and the occasional walleye they can get.? Some goes into the fryer come Friday for a crispy tradition; other filets spend hours in the outdoor smokers, stacked with applewood. I imagine slicing open a larger catch, stuffing it with lemon and fresh herbs and maybe some garlic, slow roasting the thing like a branzino over charcoal and chips.

Some of my favorite food- and drink-related things about Door County:

To Buy:

  • SweeTango apples (tangier, tarter than Honey Crisp but just as crisp and juicy) from Wood Orchard in Egg Harbor, plus apple cider and doughnuts same place
  • That said, also Honey Crisp apples from Seaquist Orchard in Sister Bay
  • Fresh, super squeaky cheese curds from Renard?s cheese (buy day of at the shop in Sturgeon Bay or local businesses that get daily deliveries)
  • Savory Spoon Cooking School in Ellison Bay for cooking classes with Janice Thomas and artisan Wisconsin cheeses next door at her cheese shop (favorites are Pleasant Ridge made with grassfed milk and Bleu Mont Dairy for old fashioned, cave-aged, stinky varieties, Mt. Sterling Cooperative for raw goat?s milk cheese, Nordic Creamery cheeses and butter ? available at Green City Market)
  • Brats and sausage for grilling from Marchant?s in Sturgeon Bay

To Go:

  • Wilson?s in Ephraim for ice cream (specifically, double scoop, French vanilla and some other scoop ridiculously loaded with caramel, nuts and chocolate in a waffle cone)
  • Friday night fish fries (perch) at Schartner?s, Sturgeon Bay; outdoor old school fish boils at Square Rigger Gallery in Jacksonport (whitefish caught that morning cooked over an open fire by local firemen)
  • Fried cheese curds, martinis, and the cherry pie a la mode at Danny?s, Glidden Lodge
  • Wild Tomato in Fish Creek for wood-fired pizza topped with local Midwestern veggies and seasonal tomatoes (yes, they have a cheese curd and bacon version)
  • Farmers markets: Tuesdays in Sister Bay, Saturdays in Sturgeon Bay

To Indulge:

  • Cherry and pecan pie from Sweetie Pies in Fish Creek
  • Gluten free chocolate chip cookies by Katarina Pastries (available at the Sturgeon Bay Saturday Farmer?s Market)
  • Fudge (chocolate peanut butter, chocolate caramel and cherry) from Wood Orchard Market in Egg Harbor)

To Drink:

  • Death?s Door vodka, gin and white whiskey (named after the treacherous waters at the tip of the Peninsula where the bay waters near Washington Island meet Lake Michigan)
  • Door County vodka for infusing with thick cut, applewood smoked bacon from pastured pigs
  • Fresh-roasted coffee beans and Colombian-style coffee from Door County Coffee & Tea Co.
  • Local (less sweet versions) wine from Door Peninsula Winery in Carlsville
  • Shipwrecked beer from Egg Harbor; New Glarus where you can find it

DOJ inspector general: Obama administration obstructed Fast and Furious investigation

Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz confirmed Thursday?to a House panel that President Barack Obama?s White House obstructed his investigation into Operation Fast and Furious.

The administration has also been accused of stonewalling the congressional investigation into the scandal.

?As we noted in the report ? and, as you know, Congressman, we did not get internal communications from the White House ? and Mr. [Kevin] O?Reilly?s unwillingness to speak to us made it impossible for us to pursue that angle of the case and the question that had been raised,? Horowitz testified in response to questioning from Texas Republican Rep. Blake Farenthold during a House oversight committee hearing.

In the report, Horowitz?s team wrote that ?[t]he White House did not produce to us any internal White House communications.?

Horowitz?s report said the Obama administration justified its non-cooperation with the inspector general by claiming the production of White House documents was ?beyond the purview of the Inspector General?s Office, which has jurisdiction over Department of Justice programs and personnel.?

Kevin O?Reilly, a now-former White House official who was reassigned to a State Department detail in Iraq after Fast and Furious became a national scandal, also refused to cooperate with Horowitz?s investigation.

O?Reilly, a National Security Council official who was directly involved in Operation Fast and Furious through his frequent communications with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) official Bill Newell, refused through a lawyer to cooperate with Horowitz?s investigation, according to the inspector general?s.?Newell was the lead agent on Fast and Furious in his capacity as the head of the Phoenix ATF office.

Farenthold asked Horowitz if Congress should pursue O?Reilly?s testimony and press for tens of thousands of documents the White House withheld from Congress and the inspector general further.

?Well, certainly we have sought to pursue every lead we could,? Horowitz replied. ?I can just tell you from our standpoint it was a lead we wanted to follow.?

House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa said during the hearing that the White House has resisted his committee?s efforts?to serve a subpoena on O?Reilly to compel his testimony.

Horowitz told Issa that because O?Reilly is no longer a DOJ employee and works in another cabinet department, he couldn?t require the interview.

?We reached out to his lawyer and requested an interview,? Horowitz explained. ?We have no basis to compel an interview from individuals who are outside the Department of Justice. He does not work in the Department of Justice so we had to ask for a voluntary interview, and he denied: His lawyer told us he would not appear voluntarily.?

Horowitz said Department of Homeland Security also impeded?his investigation, citing an?Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent ?who was assigned to Operation Fast and Furious on a full time basis [but] declined our request for a voluntary interview.?

That ICE agent, he added, requested immunity from prosecution and declined to be interviewed unless it was granted.

?There was an agent from the Department of Homeland Security that was assigned to the operation,? Horowitz said during Thursday?s hearing. ?As part of our effort to be thorough and interview all people who might have relevant information, we reached out. He, again, is outside the Department of Justice, so he declined our voluntary request to be interviewed by us.?

?We sought through the Department of Homeland Security to speak to him, and we understood that, absent being compelled ? and given immunity ? that he would not speak voluntarily. That request was declined, is my understanding.?

Pakistan factory fires kill at least 261

At least 166 people were killed in a fire in Karachi, Pakistan. NBCNews.com's Dara Brown reports.

By NBC News staff and wire reports

Updated at 8:40 a.m. ET: KARACHI, Pakistan --?At least 261 people burned to death as fires swept through two factories in Pakistan, police and government officials said on Wednesday, raising questions about industrial safety in the country.

Flames raced through a garment factory in the teeming commercial capital of Karachi, killing 236 people. Weeping relatives in hospitals and morgues heaped criticism on the deeply unpopular government.

"People started screaming for their lives," said Mohammad Asif, 20. "Everyone came to the window. I jumped from the third floor."

In the eastern city of Lahore, a fire raged in a shoe factory, killing at least 25 people.

Critics say Pakistan's corrupt and ineffective government has failed to tackle the country's problems. The country is racked by a Taliban insurgency, widespread poverty, spiraling crime and daily power cuts.

"The owners were more concerned with safeguarding the garments in the factory than the workers," said garment factory employee Mohammad Pervez, holding up a photograph of his cousin, who is also a worker there and is missing.?"If there were no metal grilles on the windows a lot of people would have been saved. The factory was overflowing with garments and fabrics. Whoever complained was fired."

The Guardian newspaper quoted?injured factory worker Mohammad Ilyas, who also said that bars on the windows had stopped workers from escaping easily:

"Some of us quickly took tools and machines to break the iron bars," he said, speaking from a hospital in Karachi, the Guardian reported. "That's how we managed to jump out of the windows down to the ground floor."

"Within two minutes there was fire in the entire factory," said worker Liaqat Hussain, 29, from his hospital bed where he was being treated for burns all over his body.?"The gate was closed. There was no access to get out, we were trapped inside."

'New radicals': Pakistan's Generation Y battles to shape country's future

On Wednesday, a provincial minister ordered an inspection of all factories and industrial plants in Sindh province within 48 hours. Karachi, home to 18 million people, is the capital of Sindh.

A preliminary provincial government report on the Lahore fire concluded that the closure of the emergency exits led to the deaths and labor and safety regulations were not applied, government sources said.

Search is on for factory owners
At a Karachi hospital, about 30 bodies burned beyond recognition were lined up at a morgue.

"There is no space left here. It's full," said ambulance worker Wasif Ali. "They keep coming."

Senior Superintendent of Police Amir Farooqi told Reuters that police were raiding buildings in different parts of Karachi to search for the factory owners.

In Pakistan's largest city, 'Old Glory' is flammable and profitable

Farooqi said 35 people were injured in the garment factory fire and bodies were still being recovered from the facility, which employed about 450 people.

The latest death toll in Karachi was 236, said police chief Iqbal Mahmood.

Smoke was still rising from the factory as rescue workers pulled out charred corpses and covered them in white sheets. Relatives of workers stood in the street awaiting word of their fate. Several wept.

Aid workers become targets as Pakistan faces new humanitarian crisis

The cause of the garment factory fire was not clear.

In Lahore, workers at the shoe factory suspected that the fire was caused by a problem with a generator.

"We saw our colleagues burning alive, in flames," said Shabdir Hussain, from his hospital bed. "We could do nothing. We saved our lives by jumping from the roof."

US, Pakistan should 'divorce,' ex-ambassador to Washington says

Al-Jazeera reported?that the factory had been built illegally in a residential part of Lahore.

Successive governments have been unable to provide a reliable power supply so factories have to have their own generators, powered by diesel or petrol, if they want to avoid regular, lengthy power cuts.

Reuters contributed to this report.
