QUESTION:
What is a good accredited ONLINE school for a degree or certificate in NUTRITION? Help please?
I'm looking for a good online college that's accredited, offers financial aid, and hopefully has a nutrition program or atleast some nutrition classes...I'm so lost. I have no idea where to begin looking. Does anyone know of any good schools online? Thank you very much
-
ANSWER:
Ashworth College is accredited and has a really good online nutrition program. It covers the food pyramid, diet planning, the digestive system and how nutrients affect energy, wellness and disease. You can get 0% financing on tuition and pay just per month, so it's pretty affordable and books are included.

QUESTION:
Do employers in the IT field look down upon online bachelors degrees?
I'm currently taking online courses at a regionally accredited online school for my BS in Information Security. Do IT employers look down upon online degrees when compared to a traditional degree? I will also have additional certificates, network +, security+, cisco....Will an employer just throw my resume in the trash, and employ someone with a traditional degree?
-
ANSWER:
Most employers honestly won't know the difference as they're probably not going to ask you in an interview whether your degree is online or not. Having A degree is important, whether you got it online or off, but what you need to do, like mentioned by others who answered, is make sure you have the experience and skills to back up whatever degree you have.
Whatever job you might look for, an online degree won't slow you down even if someone DOES ask.
QUESTION:
Online/distance learning degrees?
Is there anyway I can do an arts degree online/or by distance which isn't very expensive?
I don't need a library or tuition or anything
All I want is a syllabus, deadlines, marking of my assignments and an accredited degree certificate.
-
ANSWER:
Not all distance degrees are trash. They've all earned a pretty bad rep since the University of Phoenix came around, and all the various scandals associated with that school. I live in Canada and I know a highly accredited distance learning school. Their MBA program is one of the top 75 internationally, and it's done COMPLETELY online. It's Athabasca University (http://www.athabascau.ca). It's based in Canada but is done by students worldwide. They offer whole programs and even some graduate programs. Another popular one is Open University based in the UK, which I think was one of the first distance universities out there (http://www.open.ac.uk/about/ou/). Overall in the UK, they're VERY highly ranked out of all the universities, regardless of the fact that they're a distance based university. BOTH these schools were created by the government, rather than a private company (like University of Phoenix) so I would say in a sense, they are more reliable and I personally would prefer attending one of those because they don't operate on a "for-profit" basis.
As for the expense factor, all universities, online or not, have rising tuition fees. Your best bet is to contact that schools Financial Aid department. If you live in Ontario, OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) really helps you out, and I know for a fact that if you attend Athabasca, they'll still give you funding, even though it's based in another province.
But before I can answer the rest of your question, what do you mean by you don't need a library or tuition? What exactly are you talking about when you're referring to tuition?
QUESTION:
real accredited college online?
I know there are fake college online or fake mills degree. how would you know if it is scam when you want to earn degree online? I am planning doing penn foster to get my diploma/certificates and i heard they are good and no problem so have any of you have experience with any good college online that are real and accredited, do you know anyone use penn foster?
-
ANSWER:
Penn-Foster is a "career college" meaning more or less it is a school for dopes. The Penn-Foster is accredited, and not a straightforward scam, but the accreditation is inferior. Many employers will laugh at a Penn-Foster "diploma" and even more at a "degree".
I recommend you go to a local community college.
QUESTION:
What laws are there in the US and New York State for starting an online non-accredited school?
Just something I was wondering about.
I'm not talking about a college or anything that will give you a degree or certificate you can hop to an employer with and go, "Look look!"
Just a school online that has courses to teach one various things. Would you still need to treat it as a school/college, or would it be considered a small business? Are there laws against these sorts of establishments?
Thanks for the help.
QUESTION:
Accredited college online?
I am looking for some accredited college online that really actually work like university of phoenix, kaplan, ashworth, any kind of accredited online because I heard some are like scam or junk but I know it hard to find accredited college online so I don't understand why people say bad thing about university of phoenix, kaplan or ashworth because I heard that they success though online without any problem as scam or junk. Do know any good accredited college online that can be well success and did got what they want from degree, certificate or career diploma. Have any of you do anything that really work online?
-
ANSWER:
They aren't scams, but their quality isn't good. They don't, for example, hire faculty members with Ph.D.s (and occasionally not with master's degrees) in many subject matters, even to teach people in graduate programs. They are also much more expensive than traditional colleges, in most cases, since they are for-profit schools.
Look on some of the websites which gather information about business problems, because you will find a lot of complaints about these institutions.
A lot of traditional colleges now offer full degrees online, and those have to maintain the same quality as their regular programs. They are usually cheaper, and a far better deal, because you will end up with a diploma that no one will question.
QUESTION:
What Online accredited College offers an Associate Degree in Marine Engineering?
Hey all im looking to go back to school.. but online only.. I looked all over the internet but i can't find What Online accredited College offers an Associate Degree in Marine Engineering...
Also what is the difference between an associate degree and a certificate? should i go for a certificate instead of a associates degree in marine engineering? basically i would love to get a Bachelors degree or even a masters when all is said and done...
Thank you
thank you very much...
I forgot to mention due to the fact I work roughly 80 hours a week i am completely unable to attend an actual college... My only choice is online plus with me living in staten island NY traveling would be out of the question...... But being that no ABET school offers what I am looking for online.. what should I do? Thanks everyone for helping me out... I am completely serious about this.. thank you all...
-
ANSWER:
No ABET accredited school offers online Marine Engineering or Marine Engineering Technology.
Several states have shore-side colleges for Marine degrees. If you're seriously interested, that's where you should go. The following offer degrees in Marine Engineering Technology:
California Maritime Academy
Maine Maritime Academy
Texas A&M at Galveston
ADDED
"what should I do? "
The fact is you need to weigh your options, and pay the price if you want a maritime career. Quit work, borrow tuition money, and go to one of the three listed schools (or similar schools).
QUESTION:
wants to become a medical assistant?
I would like to go back to school for medical assisting. I am curious on which school to go to. I see so many out there. I am an unemployed mother a 2 boys ages 1 and 4 and would possibly like take classes online. I see accredited and non accredited school and certificates and degrees. Which would be the best to take. I saw a non accredited online school which you can get Medical administrative Assistant certificate in about 6 months. I will need financial aide. I am stuck as to where to start.
-
ANSWER:
Under no circumstance should you enroll at a "for-profit" career school! Take the course through a community college. Sure, they may make you take an English comp or math class, but I'd rather struggle through that and still only have around 00 to pay back than to go through some "fast track" program only to find I now owed over ,000 in student loans for a job that's going to pay about -12 an hour.
Next, start looking at the employment section of your city's newspaper. Are there Medical Assistant jobs out there? Since MA is a relatively easy program and can be done in around 6-9 months for a certificate, often the job market is flooded with applicants.
GRACIE: a "diploma" program that is ,500?? For a job that will pay about -12 an hour? You can earn an Associate Degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy through a community college and have a professional career that starts off at OVER an hour for less than 00!!!!
QUESTION:
Which (if any) online courses/colleges/universities actually work??
I am trying to go back to school to get a degree in Medical Billing or Medical Office Assisting. I have been researching online schools, since I am a stay at home Mom of 3.
Has anyone out there used a truly accredited online school, that a company will except??
I have researched ripoff report.com and some of the schools I've heard alot about have some really bad reviews.
If anyone out there has completed an online school degree or certificate and it actually got employment with it, please let me know what school it was, so I can check it out.
Thanks!!!

QUESTION:
Distance Learning/Online courses?
I am interested in earning a degree or Certificate in Horticulture. I want to do it online, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any accredited online school at which I can take the courses needed. Thanks!
QUESTION:
Do you do Online-Courses for college/university?
Hi! Im looking at the possibility of doing distance learning (taking online courses for college/university) and I want to know which would be the best.
So, if you do distance learning, can you please tell me:
- whether or not the institution is accredited
- the types of courses available online
- whether or not an entire certificate or degree can be earned online
- the required fees
You don't have to answer all of the dashes, just the ones you know....
Thank you VERY much for your information and help!!!
-
ANSWER:
Just a warning: regional accreditation is only a minimum requirement. The reputation of the school is important - both for the quality of the education and for job prospects. For example, University of Phoenix is accredited, but the education and the degree you get there are worthless. Capella is another near-worthless school. Excelsior College and Western Governors University are starting to get fairly good names among on-line colleges.
Kaplan University is a for-profit school attracting mostly women.
If you must take a degree on-line, my advice is you should get accepted into a regular "brick & mortar" university which offers the same courses on-line as it does on campus. You should take as many courses on campus as possible - 50% ?
QUESTION:
Where can I obtain a reputable Master's Degree in Education Online?
I have my B.S.C. in English and Film and I also have my Professional Teaching Certificate for English 6-12. I would like to get my Master's Degree in Education, however, I'm so busy I would really prefer to have the flexibility of an online program. I keep finding schools that are not accredited or their accreditation is flimsy. Does anyone know of a good online school for a Master's in Education? Thanks!
-
ANSWER:
For those busy with their current routine and can?t spare time for regular course, online education is the best option to choose to advance academically. There are various universities offering online degrees but all are not legitimate. Here http://www.thedegreeexperts.com/dg-education-99.aspx you can get the list of various specializations available in the field of education at top ranked accredited US universities. Choose the one that suits you best and get enrolled into it through this website.
QUESTION:
distance learning online?
I am looking for a good website to find different college/university to do online. Is there anything like accredited or something that really work to work though degree online? I know that some are expensive but I trying to get diploma before I can get certificate but I don't know if penn foster, strayer, ashworth, sanford or other that offers diploma online to do. I work a lot at my job but try to find something to do online to learn and earn it.
QUESTION:
Degrees in alternative/holistic medicine?
I've been looking at different colleges who offer such degree programs, I'll have to do online distance learning because there are no schools near me. I've also come across articles written by skeptics that the colleges are some type of fraud because they are unaccredited or that the notable graduates have never been published in any medical journals. I feel that they are just skeptics of holistic practices in general. None of which are surprising because of the way our society can look down on holistic approaches to our health and well-being.
I guess the point of my question is are there any skeptics of colleges that are NOT skeptics of the actual practice of holistic medicine? Are there even accredited schools for natural health or is it just the "norm" in this field that the schools are non-accredited? I would also love to hear experiences from anyone who has recieved a degree or any certificates in holistic/natural nutrition and health
-
ANSWER:
I understand what your saying.Yes,the people that are skeptics of the colleges are sceptics of Alternative Medicine altogether or anything at all that is not Conventional Medicine and for the most part have no criticisms of Conventional Medicine at all or if they do they arn't verbalising them.
So because of biases towards anything Nonconventional Medicine, it would be unlikely that they would point out if there was a Natural College/school/Uni that they did feel had good standards or recommend one to you.
There are also people in the Natural Medicine Industry that are skeptical of some certain colleges or find them without good standards. This will depend though on which country you are from.Im from Australia so i can only say regarding here sorry.Below are some links of courses that you can do distant which are accredited. You should still research further into them though regarding which are the best.
If your from USA,you might find there is a huge range of courses/schools information online and you might become overwhelmed as to what is a "legit" school where you'll receive a good education or what is a school that someone has just opened up for the interests of profit or is low standard.I suggest you ring up the The American Herbalists Guild and see where they recommend and where they dont recommend.
I had a brief google look at Clayton College. It seems ok but maybe a bit unprofessional though and somewhat "cheesy".
QUESTION:
Where to find a legit, accredited TESOL certificate program?
There is a flood of TESOL TESL TEFL, you-name-it stuff on the Internet. I am looking for a reputable, accredited (who accredits?) TESOL certificate program. I am not interested in a degree program, as I have my MA in Middle East Studies. Im mainly seeking certification to teach overseas, so I dont want to be looped into a rigorous state teacher certification program. (Oh, and I'd prefer a program in NY state and online!). Is there a school that satisifies all my requirements?
Im noticing ads for Saudi Arabia require CELTA or TESOL. Is CELTA really more worth it? And isnt it possible to do most coursework online while still getting in the teaching hours? Or are all online programs ipso facto less good-looking on an application (even if theyre affiliated with a college)?
-
ANSWER:
If you're going to the Middle East you might consider a British program. RSA, Trinity, and Cambridge all give good classes. They are practically oriented and involve a lot of class practice and observations. Contact a British Council or their embassy. Temple University gives a good one, but that's basically a master's in teaching and you'd have to take courses that you don't need. FYI, in the states, accreditation is done by regional accreditation agencies.

ANSWER:
Laypersons use ultrasound technologist, ultrasound technician, sonographer and ultrasonographer interchangeably. Delete technician and they are all correct.
When thinking about entering an ultrasound program, you need not be concerned so much about certificate vs. degree. What is important is that you go to an ACCREDITED program, whether it is college or hospital based. An accredited program allows you to take your registry (licensing) exams upon graduation. Once you get licensed, you will never be asked about your schooling again. An employer does not care what route you take to get licensed, they just want you to have that license.
Don't waste your time or money on a NON-accredited program. Upon completion and graduation from a NON-accredited program, you must work in the field of sonography for a full year prior to taking your licensing examinations. But, you will have a hard time finding an employer to hire you, unless you are licensed.
I would suggest you observe an imaging department to get an idea of what ultrasonographers do daily. There is much more to it than scanning pregnant women. Most people have no idea how much is involved in this career!
Ultrasound definitely entails more than just scanning pregnant women. We can also image the salivary glands, thyroid, carotid vessels of the neck, breasts, pancreas, liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, spleen, kidneys, urinary bladder, uterus, ovaries, testicles, prostate gland, aorta and vena cava, large arteries and veins in the arms and legs....have I missed anything? We can also ultrasound a palpable lump (one that can be felt from the outside of the body) which is located anywhere on the body. We can do ultrasound on newborn's stomachs to look for pyloric stenosis or the hips to look for dislocation.
Sonographers also assist the radiologist with more invasive procedures. We do amniocentesis (using ultrasound to guide a needle into the pregnant uterus to remove fluid for testing), paracentisis (needle into abdomen to remove fluids for testing) and thoracentsis (needle into lungs to remove fluid). We assist the radiologist with ultrasound guided biopsies (breast, thyroid and liver). We assist the radiologist with hysterosonography (putting saline solution into the uterus to image the endometrial canal). We do some ultrasounds transabdominally (the transducer or camera outside the body), and others transabdominally or transrectally.
I work at a free standing imaging center, so we are only open M-F, 8-5. No weekends, no holidays, no evenings, no night, no call. At most hospitals, the ultrasound department is staffed during the day (and sometimes the evenings), and then the sonographers rotate weekends. Most hospitals will make sure a sonographer is available (being on call) 24/7, when the department doesn't have a sonographer on site.
You can find a list of accredited schools in your area, by searching "diagnostic medical sonography" and your state at the following site. I have not heard of any accredited sonography schools which are done totally on line. There are links provided for each program, which will give you additional information (including course duration and prerequisite courses):
http://www.caahep.org/Find_An_Accredited_Program.aspx
Many people, myself included, go to school to become a radiologic technologist, before continuing to ultrasound school. In fact, it can be difficult to get into u/s school without the RT license. There are many more choices for schools for x-ray in most states. You can find them here, by searching ?radiography? and your state:
http://www.jrcert.org/cert/Search.jsp
The pay for ultrasound technologists will vary, depending on experience and geographical location. There really is no difference in pay between hospital trained and college trained sonographers. The American Society of Radiologic Technologists just did a large salary survey, in 2007. You can see how much a RT and/or ultrasound technologist averaged, per year, in your state here:

QUESTION:
Healthcare Certificate/Degree?
Has anyone ever gone to an accredited online college, and had a good paying job in the health field afterwards? Just curious! I have a radiology degree but would like to possibly get something else in medical. I have no time to go to a local college, being a new mom, and going to work. Living in Texas. Thanks for any advice!
QUESTION:
What are my chances of a company hiring me with no degree?
I am taking accounting course from an accredited school (PCDI) to be exact. After I finish my course which I estimate to be in 9 months with a diploma saying I passed will I be hired by a company. Will they take my certificate serious or will they want me to have a degree and more schooling? I know to be a CPA you have to be certified but in the accounting field must I be certified for other positions. I plan to take more schooling online and earn an associates degree will that help me out too in being promoted? Are online courses really legit in helping people get hired for the career of their dreams?
-
ANSWER:
You can get hired with that certificate. Those are pretty reputable items and so are online degrees. Don't expect a salary of more than about K a year maybe a little more or less. I bet you could get in as a tax consultant with HR Block. I know you do not need to be a cpa to file tax returns. That's a start and as you move along in your degree you can move up in the office. After a few years you can parlay all that experience into a pretty decent job at some corporation doing whatever it is accountants can do for them. As the years go on and the experience and education piles up, you go higher and higher.
Yes, absolutely, online courses are legit. Although, for at least one degree, you might want to consider a real university if you are able to. You can do it, good luck!
QUESTION:
Has anyone researched or attended classes with Test drive college online?
I am looking into online college courses, the problem is, every time I fill out a questionnaire expressing interest I am bombarded with sales phone-calls. Test drive online purports to let you "test-drive" a course for real credit to use toward a degree. The thing is that from what I have seen of their site...they are the "college" you will be attending, and I have never heard of Test Drive College. I am wondering if they are accredited, etc. So, if anyone has any knowledge about them, please post. Also, if anyone has any good advice about obtaining a degree on-line(who is accredited, affordable, etc.) that would be appreciated as well. I want to get a certificate in medical assisting, here in Tamarac, Fl.
-
ANSWER:
I did degree checks and transfer evaluations for a 2 year college for 3 years and I now work at a 4 yr University. Take it from me DO NOT waste you money! Your local community college most likely offers online classes, so take them there.. where you are guaranteed accreditation and where it costs a FRACTION of what these "online colleges" charge. I have seen COUNTLESS students who have TONS of online credits and debt (from Univerisity of Phoenix, Brown Mackey, ITT, etc) whose credit is useless toward a degree elsewhere. They may be accreditited, but it doesnt mean you can actually use it toward something else in the future.
Tip #1 Be sure to check if a school is "REGIONALLY" accredited "National accreditation" means nothing.
#2 Choose a certificate or degree program that will be worth the money you will earn. (Medical assistants in my state only earn about an hour... not worth paying 10-12 thousand dollars for!! And you have to complete clinicals, which can not be done online.
#3- Check out the cost per credit hour of online colleges and the "career colleges" too.. I see that near your city, Sanford-Brown charges almost 0 per credit hour!! Thats TOO MUCH! The med assistant program at ATI is 16,000! Way TOO MUCH.. go to Broward.. its a credit hour (normal cost seeing as how you'll need 60-90) and the credits are likely to transfer... plus they have online classes.. Good Luck!!
QUESTION:
I want to be a paralegal, but not sure where to start with school- no opportunities in my area!?
I want to be a paralegal, but not sure where to start with school- no opportunities in my area!?
Ok, so there seem to be absolutely no programs for paralegals in my area. I live in northwest tennessee. I would like an associates degree but my community college does not seem to offer this and the closest university doesnt either. Another question is, the certificate that can be acheived for paralegal studies seems to be only for people that already have a bachelors, is this true?
I cant move to find another school because i have too many ties here at the moment. I have heard nothing but bad about the online degrees in the field because they say they are aba accredited but truly are not-from what i understand.
Does anyone know what i can do?
QUESTION:
Is there anyway to get an initial teaching certificate in NY with a bachelors in something other than edu?
AND are there any universities that offer an accredited online masters program for childhood education? I am graduating with a degree in Child and Family Studies this May, I want to be an elementary school teacher so I am looking at getting my masters in teaching. I would like to work while getting the degree though and I know there are a bunch of different ways to get your initial teaching certificate but I did not know if any of those would work for me. Any help would be really appreciated!!
-
ANSWER:
I am sure you are correct about the many ways to obtain a teaching certificate and a teaching job in New York State and elsewhere.
In many states there are emergency conditions with a shortage of qualified teachers. If this is the case in New York State, I know that teachers of math and science were in short supply everywhere. However, I know no one wants to teach in early childhood programs because teachers feel that it is like babysitting. If you feel that you have abilities in those two areas, then apply under those emergency conditions and your will be able to get a job in a New York Public school system. Call the New York State Department of Education. and ask for the certification department. Talk to them in that office, and they will guide you through what you are seeking to do.
QUESTION:
College quesitons?
I am 20 years old, I never took my SAT's or my ACT's and I'm looking for an accredited online college. I want to go for either Medical Transcription or Medical billing and coding. A few years back I found an online college that let you do both at one time. My first question is does anyone know of that college/website? My second question is I found some colleges already, but what is better... a career diploma or a certificate? I know that an associate's degree is the best but I've also read that these jobs have hired people with just a high school diploma. I want a better career fast, so online training is the best option for me but I want to make sure that I do it right. Does anyone out there do online schooling? Where? Any advice?
-
ANSWER:
Amelia is wrong. In fact, there is even an APA accredited PhD Clinical Psychology program that is offered off-campus, with minimal on-campus input. The University of Oklahoma has been a pioneer in this area as well, offering BA and MA level degrees.
I would suggest that you get a copy of Bear's Guide, by Dr. John Bear. It is now out of print, but there should be some older copies around. Tells you everything from cost to accreditation to how to spot a diploma mill.

QUESTION:
Harvard Question !?
I found these online course offered by Harvard, I wonder how they are accredited, like if I finish these course what degree or certificate do I get ? And are these really mean in regard to finding a better job,etc ?
http://onlinecourses.conted.ox.ac.uk/subjects/philosophy.php
Sorry I mean OXFORD !!!!!!!!!!
-
ANSWER:
I checked the link , and all I found were online courses offered by OXFORD, not Harvard. And oh yes, they are accredited and you get a certificate and transcript detailing the credits. They aren't intended for the purposes of official employment, but more so as undergraduate study. You can use these credits to transfer to another program at Oxford.

I have done my homework and all 3 schools are regionally accredited but I just don't know which one to pick. Has anyone attended these schools before what do you think. Everest has a leg up because they give you a laptop and I think thats great but before I put my name on the dotted line I want to have a complete picture! I mean I want a diploma not a certificate, will I get to walk across a stage to get my degree etc......
andwill the goverment recognize my degree?
-
ANSWER:
Just because they "give" you a laptop does not imply that it is free. The cost of the computer is built into the education. Many schools have been providing computers for years to acclimate students more closely to their curriculum and to keep in close contact with administration and the professors.
If a school requires you to fill-out a FAFSA form, they are likely to be accredited by various state or federal agencies. Go ahead and ask them anyway and see how they respond to your question.
The program of study you choose to pursue shall clearly state in their literature if it leads to a degree or certificate. If you spend two-years in the program, expect an Associate degree; four-years should lead to a Bachelors degree. A certificate program is for a short-term program of study that may get you in the door for lower-paying trade jobs and the like.
Ask the school if they perform graduation ceremonies and if they charge for these events. Asking never hurts.
Ask if they have out-placement programs for those about to graduate and what their success rate for a job is for those who graduate from their programs.
Without utilizing the schools for information about their programs, ask potential employers if they would hire you with an education from the schools you have chosen. Ask them about who provides the bulk of their new hires.
You may wish to place this question within the Education category as this is the Geography category.

QUESTION:
Medical Administrative Assistant Degree cost?
Im going to Fortis College online. Im taking up Medical Administrative Assistant, and will be done next year in December. Im getting a Degree not a certificate or anything like that. For my financial aid I usually get the full Pell Grant from FASFA. The financial aid adviser told me i would have to take out a loan to finish paying for al my classes, books, and tuition. She told me since its computer classes, etc it cost more. My pell grant didn't cover everything, and i have different classes every month. My question is how much is this degree im getting, believe its an Associate Degree Does anyone know how much the school for this is? And the school is accredited.
all community colleges around does not have this program. I don't have transportation to travel, and dont want to go to a university, plus this program is 18 months not 2 years.
-
ANSWER:
Most community colleges offer online classes, just like Fortis does. Even if you went to a community college out of state, it would still be cheaper than a private for profit school.
These career colleges are just such a huge rip off!
QUESTION:
Universal Life Church credentials?
I have an uncle who's been looking into officiating weddings and such where he lives. (He lives in the middle of nowhere.) This question isn't about that, it's about what he was looking at online, and asked me to research further: The Universal Life Church. They offer free ordination, and most U.S. states allow ULC 'ministers' to officiate weddings. This has been defended in court.
So I have 2 questions about these guys:
1) There appear to be two major competing factions in ULC ordination: those lead by ulchq.com (ulcseminary.org, ulc.net), and the less-official looking "The Monastery" (themonastery.org, ulc.org). Whose ordinations are officially recognized? Is it best to just ordain through both channels and keep The Monastery ordination certificate as a backup?
2) A number of these sites offer degrees, etc., and I seem to remember that at least one of them claimed to be officially accredited, which suggests that the degrees carry a bit of weight. Are these degrees officially recognized by any government or other organization?
I would split this into two questions, but I decided that they're so close that it wouldn't matter.
-
ANSWER:
1) Both ordinations are recognized in all 50 states and in some other countries. Generally, after becoming ordained, one must register to practice marriage ceremonies in their state. Some counties even have more specific requirements. One or both have links on their sites to the states' regulations, grab the citation from there and search through the Code of the appropriate state to confirm. (You might also want to research any attorney general's opinions as well.)
2) The one you're referring to claims to be accredited by the IAA, which doesn't exist. I have not had time to research this, but they claim that as a religious organization they can endow a title on anyone within the congregation. This apparently includes Honorary Doctorate titles. While the explanation seems reasonable, I'm not sure if it would hold water. It may be factual, and after receiving a DD I could call myself Dr. Rev. NCC-1701 D.D. on all my official stuff and no one could stop me. But I'm not quite sure how that would go over with my bosses...
One of the original intentions of the ordinations by ULC was for people who lived in rural areas and were community leaders that needed to officiate ceremonies. And the reason they continue now to ordain anyone is one of religious freedom vs. government. If a precedent were to be set not recognizing a practitioner of a certain "fringe" religion, the case could be made to not recognize that religion at all. I personally don't care what your flavor is, but I believe the Government has no business in it.
QUESTION:
Paralegal Certificate: Community college or Private University? Price difference ,000. HELP!!!?
I have a B.S. in Criminal Justice and am seeking to obtain my paralegal certificate to open up my career horizons. As I work full time for the government, I need a program I can take online. I know this prevents me from taking an ABA accredited program, but I really don't have an option due to my availablity.
I have found a few programs that I am interested in, but I am seeking advice regarding which one I should enroll in. Duke University offers a self-directed paralegal certificate program for ,000. However, I can take the same program with the same courses at a community college for under 00. There are also programs at State Public college that offer the courses for about ,000.
Is it worth it to take the program through Duke so my resume is more impressive? Is it worth spending an extra 00? Because a certificate is a non-degree program, there are no financial aid options so I'll have to take out a private loan or pay cash, depending on which program I enroll in. I know its worth it, but I know instances where I got stepped over by someone with a less prestigious degree program and wanted to know if that might apply here.
Any information or insight would be greatly appreciated! =) Thanks.

What school is LSU? Is it Louisiana State University?

QUESTION:
Need help with choosing a graphic design program?
I have literally checked out every college in my state and surrounding looking for a good graphic design program that I could take while Im working full time. I am looking at Gatlin's certificate program through Clemson University, because:
1. the only other option I would have is to go through my local community college who placed their graphic design campus in a bad part of town! As a woman, I fear doing this, having to commute there after work, and class would end at night-time.
2. this program's accredited and it's through Clemson
3. it's completely online which is great, my only hesistations are:
1. that I've never heard of Gatlin before
2. they don't specify in teaching you how to use any specific programs?
My only other option would be to try the Art Institute, but I hear they're not very respected in the field, they're a degree mill, and they just want your money?
Thanks in advance!
-
ANSWER:
as a designer. I would strongly suggest that you NOT go to an Art Institute. They are a degree mill.
Go get a well rounded education and a 4 year degree at a college or university.
What about RIT, RISDY, Tyler - Temple's School of art and design, Penn State, Savanna College of Art and Design, The Portfolio Center.
-
ANSWER:
As long as the college (online or campus based) is regionally accredited, any degree you earn should be accepted by any potential employers or other academic institutions. Especially if you are looking at going into the IT field, potential employers recognize the benefits that earning your degree online can offer.
My best recommendation would be to contact a number of colleges to find the best fit for you and your needs (tuition, schedule, career opportunities, etc.). Too often people enroll in the first school they find rather than taking the time to find the best school for them. Taking that time now could save you a lot of time, money and frustration if you choose the wrong school.
This site has some good info on regionally accredited online BS in Information Security programs and some colleges that offer them to help expand your search:

I think you can enter your info on there for any colleges you are interested in and they will send you more info for free. Good Luck!
QUESTION:
wants to become a medical assistant?
I would like to go back to school for medical assisting. I am curious on which school to go to. I see so many out there. I am an unemployed mother a 2 boys ages 1 and 4 and would possibly like take classes online. I see accredited and non accredited school and certificates and degrees. Which would be the best to take. I saw a non accredited online school which you can get Medical administrative Assistant certificate in about 6 months. I will need financial aide. I am stuck as to where to start.
QUESTION:
Medical Office Administration or Medical Assistant?
I am trying to decide to go to school for Medical Assistant or for Medical Office Administration.
There is a two year waiting period for nursing as well as physical therapist assistant and many other programs at the local colleges.
The two programs that I can get into are
Medical Office Administration
and
Medical Assistant
The school offers a 12 month class for Medical Office Administration and a 16 month class for Medical Assistant.
Neither one offers a degree but a Certificate.
This is an accredited College that is available for Pell Grants from FASFA.
Brookstone College of Business in Greensboro North Carolina and it's not a cheap school at
,800 for Medical Assistant
,000 for Medical Office Administration
There is also an internship near the end of the school program. and a job placement specialist and so far all of their graduates have all got jobs.
Right now I am just trying to choose between the two.
The person I spoke with at the school told me that Medical Assistant's make more money, and men in the field are in high demand.
The problem is that everything I see online tells me that Medical Office Administration makes more money.
I have searched Salary.com and a few other places.
Has anyone here worked at either, or know someone who has.
I am not planning on doing any additional education years later to become a nurse or anything so whatever I choose would be a the career path I go into.
My questions are these
1) Which position makes more money?
2) Which position would be easier to get?
3) What is a typical day like for these two positions?
-
ANSWER:
I am trained as a Medical Secretary (another name for Medical Office Administration) and depending on the particular specialty that one wants to work in the Medical Assistant may actually make more.
Also the salary can vary from one State to another or even from one city to another.
With Medical Assisting the person also learns some of the basic front office stuff like answering the phone, filing charts (if the office is using paper charts still). They may also help with scheduling patient appointments whether it's for a new patient or an established patient. They may also have to talk to insurance companies to help with getting procedures that a doctor is doing for a patient's care authorized.
Then they also do the back office duties which consist of things like checking a patient in by taking their vital signs like blood pressure, temperature, and weight. They will also get some additional information about patient history as to why they are there.
Then they will take the patient to the exam room and bring out a gown for the patient to put on depending on what is being examined.
After that is done they will go and clean up other exam rooms to get them ready for the next patient to be put in the room. They will also answer calls from patients that left messages earlier in the day asking for information from their doctor such as about symptoms they may be having.
The Medical Office Administrative takes care of strictly the front office. With this position they will greet the patient when they sign in before their appointment. They will also tell them about any balances that are due if more than just a co-pay is involved.
They will also take messages from patients such as in the example given above. When they take the message they will attach it to the chart and put it where the Medical Assistant can get a hold of it and get in touch with the doctor about whatever is going on.
They will schedule appointments for patients whether new or established (this is one of their regular duties). They will also do regular filing of patient charts (if there are paper charts in the practice).
They will also sort through the mail that comes to the practice to determine which piece of mail goes to which doctor (if there is a partnership). They may also make travel arrangements for the doctor if the doctor is going to go on a business trip such as a conference for their profession.
As for which of these professions is easier to get in to I would say that the Medical Office Administrative position will be easier to get in to depending on the requirements of the program.
If you have other questions for me please feel free to e-mail me off site any time.
